EDWARD ARMAH REVOLUTION

by in Design .

Although only two years old, EDWARD ARMAH, a company that designs, manufactures, and markets luxury bowties and pocket circles (yes, CIRCLES), is already one of the most innovative menswear accessory companies in the industry. A couple weeks ago, I had a delightful conversation with Edward Armah, the company’s founder and namesake.

Armah got his start doing a fashion radio segment in his native country of Ghana. In 2000, he moved to the U.S. and worked in sales at several luxury retailers and fashion houses, including Oxxford. While at Oxxford, Armah designed bowties on the side, wearing them to work daily. Before long, his unique bowties, including the 4-way bowtie and the Butterfly Bowtie Collection, were gaining recognition at Oxxford trunk shows and on the streets of New York. Time to start a company!

The 4-way bowtie was a fashion revelation and has become Armah’s signature product. Last year the innovation continued with the launch of the “Doyle”. The “Doyle” was created in response to Armah’s observation that many men wanted to wear pocket squares but were not folding them correctly, leaving jagged corners. With the “Doyle” pocket circle, men no longer have to worry about folding, but simply tri-fold the pocket circle or grab it at the center and insert it in their breast pocket.

Edward Armah’s pocket circle and 4-way bowtie have become best sellers here at Stanley Korshak and have left all of us wondering, what’s the next big thing for the “Bowtie King”
